Training highlights
The last bike ride I completed that was longer than 25-30 miles was in 2019 for a charity fundraiser. I have needed to significantly up my game for L2R. I am a runner at heart rather than a cyclist, that is why L2R has been a big challenge. Whilst I enjoy dedicated cycle paths, there are too many things that can go wrong with a bike and traffic on the open road and you cannot let your concentration slip for a second. Most cycling clubs don't cater for slower social cyclists (even if they think they do!) so I created my own group. I enjoy fun social rides once per month with my neighbours (Coastal Dunes Cyclists).
By following a 16-week training programme with my own personal milestones I have steadily built up my cycling fitness to the point where I feel ready and excited to take on this 8-day challenge.
