Friday 12th June Bourton to Thornbury

Friday 12th June
Bourton-on-the-Water to Thornbury

🚴ROUTE OVERVIEW

Distance: ~54 miles (87km) Elevation: ~2600ft Estimated time: 8 hours including breaks & publicity

Overview: Day 6 is the penultimate day of L2R and my last big mileage day. I'll be cycling into the great unknown along routes I've never travelled before. Starting with a bit of an uphill slog I'll spend most of the day on quiet lanes, this could speed up my progress without my normal gravel trails, muddy patches and canal towpaths. Following the (Bristol) Avon Cycleway will help psychologically, as this sounds like I'm rapidly closing in on my final destination towards Wales. The last section will be tough, including a predominantly uphill stretch that lasts around 7.5 miles! I'll finish the day in Thornbury near Bristol, staying overnight at Thornbury Lodge. The team from this hotel have been hugely supportive of the challenge, it's very much appreciated having a friendly place to aim for on my penultimate day.
